UNL Research and Survey Coordination Process

University of Nebraska-Lincoln students are frequently solicited via email to participate in institutional surveys and research studies. UNL strives to support faculty member’s research and institutional evaluation needs. However, students have expressed feeling fatigued with the increasing number of survey solicitations .

Starting in AY 24-25, a small working group is implementing a process to understand the volume of emails sent to students requesting that they complete surveys or participate in research studies. The process, outlined on the "Submit Survey or Research Activity" form linked below, enables the institution to better coordinate email recruitment and surveys to reduce students’ survey fatigue.

While usually viewed as separate entities, institutional surveys and research projects often overlap. This could be in the timing of solicitation between two projects or a research project using an institutional survey as part of data collection. This new “calendar logging” process is designed to collect both institutional surveys and research recruitment on the same calendar to streamline processes and reduce potential confusion.

Research Only

If you are required to seek IRB approval for your research, your IRB coordinator will determine whether this process is applicable. Your IRB Coordinator will also manage the calendar submission process.
